Filipino fast food chain Jollibee has been named as one of “the fast food restaurants you should be watching in 2015” by an American food magazine, Bon Appetit.

Jollibee, under the foreign invasion category was among the five world brands chosen by the magazine.

“Store openings are often met with long lines of curiosity seekers and Asian expats. The menu is curious, a combo of typical burgers and chicken fingers with signature items like Palabok Fiesta Noodles (noodles in garlic sauce with pork, shrimp, parsley flakes and egg) and Spaghetti (touted as, “The Meatiest, the Tastiest, the Spaghettiest!”). Jollibee also serves Spam sliders,” the article read.

Several world brands, such as Chick-Fil-A; Poppeye’s Louisiana Kitchen; Chipotle; Panera Bread; Jamba Juice; and Krispy Kreme, joined Jollibee on the list.

Jollibee, dubbed as Asia’s McDonalds, has been growing rapidly. The well-loved fast food chain started with five branches in 1978. In September 30, this year Jollibee opened its 900th store in Palo, Leyte.

Jollibee has stores in five countries in both Asia, as well as the Middle East. In the US, the Filipino fast food brand has locations in California, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Washington, and Virginia.
