THE run-for-a-cause with the title ‘I RUN for Integrity: I am Part of the Solution’ on Dec. 12 at the CCP Complex in Pasay City is expected to lure 5,000 participants from various sectors.
The organizing European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) is holding the advocacy run as a means to support the Integrity Initiative, a private sector-led project that promotes ethical standards among all sectors, including those from government, business, youth, civil society, academe, church, and media.
Established in 2009 by the Makati Business Club and ECCP, the Integrity Initiative works on promoting an ethical business environment.
“We want to create more transparency from all sectors, create change, raise public awareness on integrity and become the solution. It’s a long-term commitment, and we hope to that people become more engaged with this,” said Henry Schumacher, Vice President of ECCP and the Integrity Initiative Inc. during his appearance at the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at Shakey’s Malate on Tuesday.
Joining Schumacher at the forum was Nato Agbayani of Globaltronics, one of the run’s supporters, along with GMA Network’s Tere Pacis and Pasay Youth Development Council’s Adrian Martinez.
“Transformation doesn’t come on a silver platter, so we have to work for it and become part of the initiative,” added Agbayani in the forum presented by San Miguel Corp., Accel, Shakey’s, and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.
Some 12,000 runners joined the races in 2011 and 2012. Race distances open for runners are the 3K, 5K, and 10K categories.
Registration fee is P550 at Chris Sports branches in Glorietta 3, Mall of Asia, Market! Market! and SM Megamall until Dec. 4, with late registration allowed until Dec. 7 or until race kits last at the ECCP office in Makati.
As a huge side-event to the run, the Integrity Initiative will also hold the 5th Integrity Summit on Dec. 9 at Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City.
