Surrey, BC – Dianne Watts, Conservative candidate for South Surrey-White Rock, today issued the following statement highlighting the fact that over 40 of 100 RCMP members committed to Surrey are now on the ground.

“Today’s announcement is welcome news for the safety of our families and communities,” said Dianne Watts. “This important milestone is further evidence that Stephen Harper is delivering results that ensure the streets of Surrey are safe.”

The Conservative government announced in May that 100 additional RCMP members would be deployed to Surrey to help combat gang-related violence and crime, and has made it a priority to ensure that Surrey receives the RCMP members that it requested. This builds on the $3.5 million in funding over five years for the crime prevention project Surrey Gang Reduction Program.
