MANILA — House Committee on Ways and means chairman Marikina Rep. Romero “Miro” Quimpo urged Customs Commissioner Jessie Dellosa to reveal the names of corrupt Customs personnel.
During a weekly news forum, Quimbo said that Dellosa should be “man enough” to name those behind the “rampant smuggling.”
“If there are members of Congress who are in cahoots, name them. This is the only way he can help Customs Commissioner Bert Lina to clean the agency,” he said.
Quimbo added that Dellosa, “a former soldier who is battle-tested in his own right,” should show enough evidence to prove his claims, otherwise he should stop “creating intrigues.”
“Dellosa does not have enough evidence to show proof of his allegations and has no balls to prove it, better shut up because he is not helping the government and only creating intrigues,” Quimbo said.
Quimbo said that Dellosa had been invited by the panel several times to answer inquiries on the issue.
The chair, however said that Dellosa never showed up forcing them to issue a subpoena to force his presence.
The lawmaker also noted that the deputy commissioner might be cited for contempt if he ignore the committee and refuse to attend the next hearing.
