MANILA — Senator Nancy Binay recently filed a bill that aims to declare Jan. 25 as a special working holiday in remembrance of the sacrifice of the 44 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos.
“The 44 heroes sacrificed their lives with only one thing in mind—to fulfill their mandate to enforce the law, prevent and control crimes, maintain peace and order, and ensure the public safety and internal security,” the senator said on Sunday.
The measure was filed following Binay’s father, Vice President Jejomar Binay’s criticisms against the Aquino administration for their alleged lack of action in the Mamasapano case.
Senate Bill No. 2916 seeks to honor the bravery of the SAF commandos who were killed last year in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
The police commandos were killed while conducting an operation to take out three international terrorists.
