CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Calamba City Mayor “Timmy” Chipeco ordered a full investigation into the alleged food poisoning incident among elementary grades students in Real Elementary School and hold those persons responsible for the food mishandling.

Chipeco also directed people allegedly involved to “put a stop to the blame game and finger-pointing because the lives of these innocent school children are at stake.”

The City Mayor vowed to run after the perpetrators — either food handlers, food companies and sponsoring organization of the school events.

Meanwhile, Dr. Adelino Labro M.D., City Health Officer, said he is still awaiting for the findings by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) based on the samples of the cupcakes served that might be the cause of the alleged poisoning.

Chipeco reiterated his concern for the pupils and assured the parents that the city government will shoulder the hospital bills.

He stressed that cases should be filed against the perpetrators so that justice will be served accordingly.

Fifteen employees of AMS Asia Inc. and two Haribon Foundation staff are now undergoing investigation at the Calamba City Police Station headed by Police Superintendent Fernando Ortega.
