MANILA — As he bids them farewell, outgoing Philippine National Police officer-in-charge Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina urged officers and personnel of the PNP to support his successor.
Espina became emotional during the flag-raising ceremony at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame on Thursday.
He thanked everyone who supported him as he became OIC of the PNP after the Office of the Ombudsman suspended PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima over graft charges.
“I could not have hurdled it successfully without you assisting me every step of the way. Thank you very much. I urge all of you to just continue serving our people because we owe it to them,” he said.
“We are all trained for leadership to lead our men. I assumed the role and responsibility given me during these past rather challenging months.”
“I will not be telling the truth if I wouldn’t say I’ll miss all of you. This has been my life, practically half of my life, if I’d be granted to live until 76,” he added.
