MANILA – In a television interview, Makati City Representative Mar-Len Abigail Binay said that she would attend the Senate hearing should she be invited in place of her father who is facing corruption allegations against him.
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who initiated the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee hearings on the anomalies, rejected the offer.
“I really wish we need her but we don’t. Ang kailangan naming humarap ay yung tatay nya (The person we need to face is her father),” Trillanes said.
Trillanes also disclosed that the Senate will also be looking at Representative Binay’s alleged share of anomalies on her pork barrel funds.
Trillanes cannot be VP Binay’s running mate
Representative Binay asserted that she would welcome anyone as running mate of her father in the May 2016 national elections, except Trillanes.
To this, Trillanes answered that he was not interested to run alongside Vice President Binay anyway.
“That’s juvenile. But just to be clear, I never planned to apply in the first place,” he explained. “Besides, I maintain that her father would back out from the race a few months from now.”
In earlier interviews, Vice President Binay clarified that he will still run for presidency.
