MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reminds all Filipinos who are planning to go to Canada for employment or education reasons to secure police certificate before leaving the country.
“As advised by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada, all Filipino nationals (including family members above 18 years old) who intend to travel to Canada to work or to study must submit a police certificate from each country of last employment or residency where they lived for the last six (6) or more months in succession,” the DFA says.
Thus, all Filipinos are required to present police clearance upon arrival in Canada. The same applies to Filipino workers coming from other developing countries.
“Filipinos, in particular those coming from the Middle East or other developing countries, are kindly requested to heed the above advisory prior to arriving in Canada to avoid the inconvenience and difficulty of applying for police certificates after they have left the country of their last employment or residency,” the DFA adds.
