MANILA — A survey showing majority of Filipinos favor the legalization of divorce in the country has yet to be tackled in the Cabinet meeting, said Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr.
”This issue has not yet been discussed in the Cabinet,” Coloma said in a text message to the Malacanang Press Corps on Monday.
According to the Social Weather Station (SWS) survey from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1 last year, about three out of five Filipinos favor the legalization of divorce.
”The people have the power to air their sentiments regarding the issue to their representatives in Congress,” Coloma said.
The survey based on the face-to-face interviews with 1,800 adults, also noted the a rising trend supporting the legalization of the divorce.
In the same survey, the SWS also found that only 29 percent have opposed the legalization while the balance were undecided on the issue.
