MANILA — The Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (SAF) cut off one of the fingers of Malaysian terrorist, Zulkifli bin Hir (also known as Marwan) for DNA testing.

Marwan was killed in an exchange of gunfire with SAF members, killing 44 policemen in Pidsandawan village in Mamasapano town, Maguindanao province.

Supt. Raymond Train, the highest ranking officer in the raiding team said their goal was to bring Marwan’s as they withdrew after the terrorist was killed in a fire exchange with the rebels.

However, the gunfire exchanges that killed Marwan alarmed his security making his full defense team came firing at the policemen.

This made the policemen decide to leave Marwan’s body and cut off a finger from the terrorist’s hand, instead.

Two versions of the extraction however, were reported. One says the commandos beheaded the terrorist while another source is claiming that his finger was cut off.

However, Police Director Getulio Napeñas, the SAF commander who was sacked because of the number of casualties following the operation, confirmed that Marwan’s finger and not his head was cut off.

Another official from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) also confirmed the report.
