MANILA — A forming weather disturbance that may strengthen to a Low Pressure Area (LPA) may enter Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) during the Pope’s visit, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
“The forming weather disturbance may enter PAR on 14, 15 or 16,” PAGASA Weather Forecaster Manny Mendoza told PNA.
He said that the movement of the potential LPA is quite slow, adding it does not have much movement.
Based on Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) charts, the potential stagnant LPA was found near Australia.
Mendoza noted that the other forming weather disturbance had already dissipated but still near the land down under.
Moreover, the PAGASA weather forecaster said the tail-end of the cold front might return, which might bring in more rains to the country.
Further, he mentioned the temperature will continue to drop due to the expected winter season peak of the Northern Hemisphere and the Northeast Monsoon or “Hangin Amihan”. It is the cold winds, which blows into the country from October to March, originating from Siberia, Russia.
Meanwhile, the state-run weather bureau has warned against different intensity of rains in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
For PAGASA’s 5 p.m. advisory, it forecast that Luzon will have isolated rains to light rains, brought by partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
It noted Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will have light rains dropped by cloudy skies.
Also, the weather agency said Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
For Visayas, PAGASA projects it will have isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, carried by partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
Mindanao, on the other hand, will have rains ranging from isolated to moderate, according to PAGASA.
It cited Caraga and Davao Region will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms, while the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the weather bureau also warned against strong winds in the Luzon and Visayas seaboards, after it had issued a gale warning in the areas.
”Strong to gale force wind is expected to affect the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas,” the weather agency said.
