In Mercer’s annual Quality of Living Survey, Vancouver was ranked top city in North America and fifth in the world.

The global consulting firm’s 2014 rankings measured living conditions in more than 460 cities based on 39 factors such as political and social environment; economic environment; schools and education; housing; and natural environment. Mercer’s survey aids governments in benchmarking their cities’ attractiveness for expatriates and helps multinational organizations fairly compensate employees who are placed on international assignments.
