House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales II announced on Thursday that the House of Representatives intends to cut some unnecessary items from the P23.3-billion supplemental budget requested by Malacañang.

Belmonted detailed that Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. and Davao Rep. Isidro Ungab, chair of the appropriations committee, and Secretaries Florencio Abad and Rogelio Singson took part in a meeting on Monday, at which they discussed the items to be trimmed from the budget.

“We want these items removed before we file the supplemental budget,” Gonzales said, referring to partially paid projects financed by the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

According to Gonzales, the House will see to it that only projects with designated allotments in this year’s budget would be funded by the supplemental budget.

Gonzales noted that the supplemental budget was filed in adherence with the Supreme Court’s ruling to ban the PDAF and the DAP.
