MANILA – The landing dock BRP Tarlac (LD-601), one of the two largest ships of the Philippine Navy (PN), has unloaded 240 tons of relief goods and construction materials in San Andres, Catanduanes starting Thursday morning.
Naval Forces Southern Luzon spokesperson Lt. Jonathan Carretas said the ship dropped anchor around 6:17 p.m. Wednesday.
“Personnel aboard BRP Tarlac are currently unloading the relief goods using the two landing craft utility aboard LD-601. Clearing operations and rehabilitation efforts shall be conducted by the team,” he said.
The ship departed Pier 15, Manila South Harbor on Nov. 17 with a cargo of relief goods and construction materials donated by the different government agencies, non-government organizations, and private individuals.
The BRP Tarlac is considered a “critical asset” for civil-military operations and humanitarian assistance disaster relief due to its capability of transporting a large number of personnel, logistics, and supplies.
