Russia reports 16,521 coronavirus cases in 24 hours

MOSCOW, Russia – The number of coronavirus cases in Russia increased by 16,521 over the past day bringing the total to 1,497,167, the operational headquarters to combat coronavirus told reporters on Saturday.

In relative terms, the growth, according to the headquarters, slowed down to 1.1%.

In particular, 4,453 cases were detected per day in Moscow, 713 in St. Petersburg, 480 in the Moscow region, 384 in the Nizhny Novgorod region, and 301 in the Rostov region.

A total of 340,528 people are currently undergoing treatment in Russia.

The number of recovered coronavirus patients in Russia increased by 11,567 over the past day, approaching the maximum figure registered on June 24.

A day earlier, 11,263 people were discharged in Russia, and on Thursday, the headquarters reported 11,428 recovered.

In total, 1,130,818 people have recovered, or 75.5% of those infected.

In particular, 2,639 patients were discharged over the last day after recovery in Moscow, 480 in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 401 in St. Petersburg, 357 in the Moscow region, 324 in the Rostov region.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths due to coronavirus in Russia increased by 296 over the day against 283 the day before, the headquarters said. The total number of deaths due to coronavirus in the country, according to the headquarters, reached 25,821. (TASS)
