MANILA – Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Charles John Brown as the new Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, the Vatican announced on Monday.
Brown was born in New York, USA Oct. 13, 1959 and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of New York on May 13, 1989.
From 1994, he was an official of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith in the Vatican.
He was consecrated archbishop on Jan. 6, 2012.
Before his appointment to the Philippines, he first served as Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland on Nov. 26, 2011 and Apostolic Nuncio to Albania on March 9, 2017.
The Diocese of Kalookan welcomes the appointment of the new Nuncio to the Philippines.
The last Papal Nuncio to the country was Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia, who was appointed as the Vatican’s Permanent Observer to the United Nations in November 2019.
He was appointed as the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines on September 12, 2017.
