Members of Filipino rock band IV of Spades will not be doing any activities as one for the meantime.
In a surprising announcement on Friday night, August 21, vocalist-bassist Zild Benitez, guitarist Blaster Silonga, and drummer Badjao de Castro said they decided to have “a break from all the things that we’ve been doing together for the past years.”
They said they will not be releasing or performing anything as a band for a while and that they will be using their time to pursue their “other personal interests.”
“With that being said, there are more things out there that we should pay attention to and remember that living itself is a blessing,” the trio said.
IV of Spades was originally formed as a four-piece band in 2014. They are known for their songs “Ilaw sa Daan,” “Hey Barbara,” “Where Have You Been My Disco?” and “Mundo.” In May 2018, the band’s lead vocalist Unique Salonga left to continue his “personal endeavors.”

The trio went on to share their music with their fans, releasing songs “In My Prison” and “Bata, Dahan-Dahan!” which they included in their debut album “CLAPCLAPCLAP!” in 2019.
Prior to this hiatus announcement, the band dropped their first song for this year “Ang Pinagmulan” in February, followed by “Sariling Multo (Sa Panaginip)” in April.
