
MANILA – A total of 43 Filipinos contracted the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) abroad, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday, bringing the overall tally to 8,915.
The DFA said most of the cases remain concentrated in the Middle East/Africa region with 6,431 infections, followed by Europe with 1,063, Asia and the Pacific with 722, and the Americas with 699.
In its latest bulletin, the DFA said the total recoveries also rose to 5,311 after 34 more were reported in the Asia Pacific and Europe as of July 15.
Meanwhile, the death toll stands at 618, with zero new deaths recorded for three consecutive days.
“As we celebrate World Youth Skills Day today, the DFA commits to not only monitoring the status of our people abroad but also in continuing its efforts to promote their welfare and development, including the youth, during and beyond this current crisis we are in,” it said.
