Eto na! Maraming nagtatanong sa akin, pano daw maging kontrabida na di kailangang maging masama sa totoong buhay para lang magampanan ng makatotohanan. Bata pa ko, eto na gusto ko.. umarte! After being a runner-up in Little Ms. Phillipines in Eat Bulaga 1984, yun na start ng movie career ko sa @viva_films. My first screen test was Baby Tsina as Ms. Vilma Santos’ daughter. Had my first acting workshop under the multi-awarded director, the late Direk Marilou-Diaz Abaya. First full length role was Muling Buksan Ang Puso again with ate Vi, first maldita role, followed by Nakagapos Na Puso as young Lorna Tolentino and a lot more movies in Viva where I got my first nomination as Best Child Performer, til my first big break in Mara Clara and the rest is history. Di ako magmamarunong, I just wanna share what I have learned in my 36 years in the business. Can’t wait na masabi mong “Moment ko ‘to”. Is it hard to raise that on-fleek kilay at that ‘nagpapaawang’ protagonist? How about that mandatory eye roll, is it starting to make you dizzy? Oh, don’t forget to perfect that victorious smirk when your evil plans work!

More than this familiar nuances package, a certified kontrabida has to throw the lines in their most maldita way. It may be fascinating to watch and mimic but it also needs some polishing, which can be achieved through practice and training.

Luckily, one of the Philippine showbiz industry’s kontrabida icon, Gladys Reyes-Sommereux, is setting up a workshop – Moment Ko ‘To!

Eto na! Maraming nagtatanong sa akin, pano daw maging kontrabida na di kailagang maging masama sa totoong buhay para lang magampanan ng makatotohanan (Here it is! A lot are asking me how to play the kontrabida role without being evil in real life),” Gladys initially wrote in an Instagram post.

She shared some of her beginnings before her big break as Clara in the longest teleserye that aired, “Mara Clara” with Judy Ann Santos.

According to the 42-year-old actress, ever since she was a kid, she already knew that she wanted to act. She wrote that after being a runner-up in Little Ms. Philippines in Eat Bulaga back in 1984, that was the start of her movie career with VIVA Films.

“My first screen test was Baby Tsina as Ms. Vilma Santos’ daughter. Had my first acting workshop under the multi-awarded director, the late Direk Marilou-Diaz Abaya. First full-length role was Muling Buksan Ang Puso again with ate Vi, first maldita role, followed by Nakagapos Na Puso as young Lorna Tolentino and a lot more movies in Viva where I got my first nomination as Best Child Performer,” Gladys said.

With all these, the actress still grasped her humility and said that “‘Di ako magmamarunong (I will not claim that I know everything), I just wanna share what I have learned in my 36 years in the business.”

That’s why she announced that she’s starting an online acting workshop, accepting participants from 13 to 40 years old. The good thing about this is that it’s available online so even those residing abroad can join via Zoom.

However, the slots are limited, so you might want to make it fast if you’re interested!

“Reserve your slot now! Kindly follow and DM @sis_janice here in IG to ask how to join and learn the details or viber 09178336976,” she ended her post.
