MANILA – Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana lauded on Monday business groups for their help in containing the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic in the country.
“Ang (contribution) ng business (groups) ay napakaganda, andaming binigay sa atin mga quarantine facilities, medicines. Etong OCD (Office of Civil Defense), halos araw-araw (may dumarating) diyan na donations (na) galing sa mga private (organizations) (Contributions from business groups are excellent, a lot of them have donated quarantine facilities and medicines. OCD is receiving donations almost every day coming from private organizations),” Lorenzana said in a media interview.
Meanwhile, he lauded San Miguel Corporation (SMC) for its donation of 45 high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) machines to the National Task Force against Covid-19, which he chairs.
“Kami’y nagpapasalamat sa kanya (SMC president Ramon S. Ang), hindi lang dito kundi (pati na) sa mga nakaraang donasyon niya (We are expressing our thanks to SMC president Ramon S. Ang not only for this donation but also for the previous ones),” Lorenzana said in a separate statement Tuesday.
SMC previously donated numerous personal protective equipment, food items, fuel for the government’s shuttle services for front-liners, and extended other forms of assistance.
The OCD will coordinate with the Department of Health for the dispatch of HFNC machines to various hospitals.
HFNC machines are used for supplemental oxygen therapy to people with respiratory ailments.
