MANILA – The Philippine Army (PA) distributed family food packs, donated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to 5,000 families residing in Barangay 187, Tala, Zone 16, District 1, Caloocan City Tuesday.
The food packs came from the PHP250 million donation of the ADB, which aims to provide relief to poor families residing in the National Capital Region (NCR) from the effects of the enhanced community quarantine which was implemented in wake of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
In a statement Wednesday, Col. Ramon Zagala, PA spokesperson, said the Army was tasked to repack and distribute the FFPs in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development along with other local government units.
“The Philippine Army is working 24/7 to better deliver our services to help the Filipinos in need during this health emergency. Together with ADB and other partners through this bayanihan effort, we want to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 especially to vulnerable communities in the NCR,” he added.
Each family food pack contains 10 kilograms of rice, 35 pieces of assorted canned goods and 20 sachets of milk and coffee and is good for seven to 10 days.
