DAVAO CITY — Thousands of people participated in the unity walk initiated by the province of Davao del Sur on Saturday that seeks to end illegal drug menace in the area.
The activity is in line with the Drug- Abuse Prevention and Control Week with the theme “Katarungan para sa Kalusugan, Kalusugan para sa Katarungan”, the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office (DSPPO) said in a statement.
DSPPO said the participants came from various agencies, academe, government employees and private individuals from the province, who “demonstrated the strong intention to end the illegal drugs by forming a more than kilometer parade of people bringing placards and signs with messages condemning illegal drugs.”
It was attended by Governor Douglas Ra Cagas, Vice-Governor Mark Cagas, Digos City Mayor Joseph Cagas, Provincial Prosecutor Teresita Recto, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-11 director Antonio Rivera, and Police Col. Alberto Lupaz, DSPPO director.
Lupaz said he was contented after seeing the huge crowd of people from different sectors of the community in unity to” once and for all clear this province from illegal drug proliferation.”
“This activity boosts our morale in the fight against drugs. It inspires us to work more without faltering until we make this province drug free once and for all,” he said.
