MANILA — Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Tuesday said the appointment papers of Nicanor Faeldon has already hurdled the Civil Service Commission.
In a message to reporters, Guevarra said CSC Chairperson Alicia dela Rosa-Bala has informed him that her office had completed its favorable recommendation for Faeldon’s appointment as director-general of the Bureau of Corrections.
The CSC recommendation will be sent shortly to the Office of the President, Guevarra said.
Faeldon’s camp earlier said they are yet to receive a copy of the formal appointment papers.
Guevarra has designated Assistant Secretary Melvin Buenafe as officer-in-charge to handle the day-to-day operations of the bureau.
President Rodrigo Duterte named Faeldon as BuCor chief, replacing retired Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.Prior to being appointed BuCor chief, Faeldon was designated Office of the Civil Defense deputy administrator.
Faeldon resigned as Customs Commissioner amid the controversy on the PHP6.4-billion shabu shipment which slipped past the bureau.
