MANILA — Top players from the Philippine Basketball Association D-League Foundation Cup will represent the Philippines in the Asia League Terrific 12 tournament on Sept. 18-23 at the Macao East Asia Games Dome in Macau.
Initially, the Philippines, through the PBA, was given two spots in the tournament. But with the Governors’ Cup still ongoing by the time the second part of the tournament series, organized by the Asia League commences, the latter agreed to bring the D-League All-Stars, who will play under the name Ieco Green Warriors.
Seoul-Samsung and Xinjiang, which played in the Summer Super 8 tournament against PBA clubs Blackwater and NLEX, will return for the Terrific 12.
Completing the cast are B. League clubs Chiba, Nagoya, and Ryukyu, Chinese Basketball Association’s Guangzhou, Shandong, and Zhejiang, KBL’s Ulsan, and SBL’s Fubon and Yulon.
The Green Warriors will take on the Golden Kings on Sept. 18 at 9 p.m. before battling the Flying Tigers on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
The top teams from each of the four three-squad groups will enter the knockout semifinals on Sept. 22 with the winners battling in the final the night after.
