Just as what President Rodrigo Duterte pronounced during the recent State of the Nation Address (SONA), Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director Oscar Albayalde said that the government’s war on drugs will be more relentless as the police force rectifies its operations.
The President said that the campaign against illegal drugs is far from over, thus it will be more relentless and chilling. Albayalde said that the PNP is one with Duterte in viewing the situation of drugs in the country that is why they are ready to intensify the Oplan Tokhang operations.
Stressing that it will be “absolutely relentless and chilling,” the PNP chief said: “We are re-calibrating our operational thrusts on the various law enforcement concerns and initiatives to synch well with the national policy.”
Despite being alleged by local and international human rights defenders that the drug war is violating rights of people, Albayalde said that the trademark with the reinvigorated anti-illegal drugs and anti-criminality campaign will be “surgical and chilling.”
“This is to deliver a strong message about the certainty of punishment to high-value targets, their protectors and patrons and all those who provide criminal support systems that sustain the illegal drug trade,” he said.
