MANILA – Expect more rains over Luzon on Friday, state weather bureau PAGASA said, due to a low pressure area (LPA) off Baler, Aurora, combined the southwest monsoon (habagat).
The agency added that the LPA was estimated at 240 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora as of 4 a.m.
Weather forecaster Gener Quitlong said over dzMM redio that the LPA has a low chance of strengthening into a tropical cyclone.
He also pointed out that as the LPA enhances the southwest monsoon, rains will fall over Metro Manila, and Northern and Central Luzon.
Metro Manila, the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon are expected to experience moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms. PAGASA also warned about flashfloods and landslides, as a result.
The rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will have light to moderate rains and thunderstorms, while other parts of the country will experience isolated rains or thunderstorms.
A heavy downpour inundated Metro Manila on Thursday, causing flooding in different areas, including streets in Makati’s business district.
