MANILA — President Rodrigo R. Duterte will be making his first official state visit to South Korea from June 3 to 5, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed on Saturday.

“That will push through and it’s (a) traditional (visit),” Roque said in an interview over DZMM.

Roque made this confirmation after the presidential office of South Korea made the announcement on Friday.

Duterte is expected to meet with his counterpart, South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

He said that the President is also looking forward to meeting Filipino workers in South Korea.

“Well, it’s part of the custom, and the President also wants to ensure the welfare of our workers in Korea,” Roque said.

Roque did not elaborate about the President’s trip but said he will be giving further information in a Palace briefing on Monday (May 28).
