Homicide team takes over after young man collapses on Burnaby pathway

By on February 7, 2014

BURNABY, B.C.—Homicide investigators are probing the suspicious death of a man in Burnaby, B.C.

Cpl. Dominic Duchesneau with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says members have taken over the case.

Few details are available, but Duchesneau says a passer-by found the young man in cardiac arrest on a path near the Lougheed SkyTrain Station, not far from the boundary between northeastern Burnaby and Coquitlam.

The victim was discovered at about 7:30 Thursday night and was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

Duchesneau says the investigation is in its early stages, a cause of death is not being released and police are trying to determine what happened on the well-travelled path, not far from a large shopping mall.

He is urging anyone who may have been in the area Thursday evening to speak with officers.
