MANILA — Jerie Pingoy led the way for Akari-Adamson as the team withstood a gallant Batangas-EAC team, 89-79, in their PBA D-League Aspirants Cup match at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City on Thursday.
Pingoy fired 23 points on six triples, but none was more important than his last three treys coming within the last 2:03 that broke a 78-all deadlock to take the lead for good.
“That’s an advantage of Pingoy. He’s willing to take the big shots,” said Coach Franz Pumaren, whose Soaring Falcons squad moved up to 6-2.
Jerrick Ahanmisi also lighted it up from downtown, making three triples of his own and finishing with 16 points.
Cedric De Joya made 15 markers for the Generals, who fell to 1-7.
