MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is sending an additional rapid response team (RRT) to Kuwait on Tuesday to provide additional support to the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait before the amnesty program closes on Thursday.

In a statement, DFA said the additional deployment of six members puts the total number of members for both RRTs at ten.

Both teams are expected to wrap up operations by February 28.

Both teams, together with the Assistance-to-Nationals team from the Embassy, are doubling their efforts in processing travel documents, conducting interviews with the applicants for the amnesty, and responding to appeals for rescue from distressed Filipinos in Kuwait.

The amnesty program of the Kuwaiti government allows undocumented overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to process the necessary documents for work without incurring any penalties.
