War on drugs continues, says Duterte

By , on February 13, 2018

President Rodrigo Duterte has no plans to cease the government’s war on drugs even with the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) impending preliminary investigation against him.

“The war or the drive against drugs will not stop and it will last until the day I step out,” Duterte said in a speech at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

He added that if continuing the campaign against illegal drugs could bring him to prison, then so be it.

“If I go to prison, I will go to prison,” Duterte said.

He also said he is ready to stand by his belief and is ready to die for it.

“If you want to execute me, look for a country that allows the execution of prisoner by firing squad,” he said.

Duterte is set to undergo a preliminary investigation after Filipino lawyer Jude Sabio filed charges against him before the ICC.

The initial probe will focus on the alleged misconducts committed by Duterte in his campaign to end the proliferation of narcotics in the country.
