Palace calls Robredo’s statement ‘completely out of touch’

By , on January 22, 2018

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque disagreed with how Vice President Leni Robredo described the country’s state, saying that the Vice President could be mistaken in her remark that the nation is “wrapped with darkness” for such description is more fitting to those “discredited politicians” who wants to regain power.

At the 72nd anniversary of the Liberal Party (LP), the vice president said that the country has been through a lot of dark periods the same with today’s and that it was always the LP who stand up for what is right.

But Roque said Robredo’s statement is “completely out of touch with the existing realities on the ground.”

He adds, “The darkness that Vice President Robredo may be referring to perhaps pertains to the future of those discredited politicians who wish to return to power.”

As Roque negated Robredo’s remarks, he cited a report from Gallup International which said that the Philippines under the administration of President Duterte is the third happiest country in the world and the fifth highest country in terms of economic optimism index.

He added that genuine and meaningful change has been felt by the Filipino people.
