By , on December 22, 2017

The Commission on Human Rights Chief Chito Gascon clarified that when his office takes part in initiating to seek the truth behind the killings in connection with Duterte administration’s drug war, it shouldn’t be erroneously taken as an act of destabilizing the government.

In his speech at a forum organized by the Constitutional Fiscal Autonomy Group, Gascon said that there is no truth in what the detractors of CHR are saying about the constitutional body.

“We’re not in the field of politics. We’re not in the field of destabilization. We’re into rule of law. We’re into justice,” Gascon said.

“Our call to all is just to do what is right according to the law and our constitution,” he added.
