Duterte cancels plans for a revolutionary gov’t

By , on December 22, 2017

President Rodrigo Duterte has decided to withdraw his plan to declare a revolutionary government in averting destabilization attempts against the administration due to the absence of support from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The president affirmed Vice-President Leni Robredo’s earlier statement in which she said that Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and AFP chief of staff Rey Leonardo Guerrero assured her that they wouldn’t support a revolutionary government.

“She’s right. I asked the military. They said we will not support a revolutionary government,” Duterte said.

On why Lorenzana and Guerrero sided with the Vice-President on this matter, Duterte said: “Because Vice President said so.’ They said ‘We like her better, She’s a woman and she does not cuss.”
