Rody plans to host summit on human rights

By , on December 22, 2017

Unfazed by the criticisms he has been receiving due to his drug war, President Rodrigo Duterte said he is ready to make Philippines the venue for a global summit on human rights.

In this summit, human rights violations not only in the Philippines but from all over the world will be tackled.

He said, “Why should we talk about the Philippines? What makes the death of people in the Philippines more important than the rest of the children in the world that were massacred and killed. Right? So we should call a summit and I can, I will volunteer to make the Philippines the venue.”

“Let’s have a summit of how we can protect the human rights for all human race,” he added.

Duterte also called for an investigation of all violations of human rights committed by all governments, saying “Just because it happened 40 years ago, it happened 100 years ago. When it was wrong then, it is definitely still wrong now.”

When this summit will take place hasn’t been announced as the president said he is yet to consult with the heads of states during the regional talks in Vietnam.
