Roque hopes Duterte’s ‘allergy’ on human rights disappears

By , on December 22, 2017

The newly appointed Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque expressed his hopes that President Rodrigo Duterte will in time be able to get over his “allergy” to matters regarding human rights.

“We hope his allergy on human rights will vanish”, Roque, a human rights advocate, said in a radio interview.

Looking at the professional background of Duterte, Roque said he has faith that the president will wage the fight against illegal drugs consistent with the law.

“I believe that despite the President admitting that he is loose-tongued, his stand, as a lawyer, as a fiscal, is to enforce the law and not to violate it. He wants to win the war against illegal drugs in accordance with the Consitution and the law,” Roque said.
