Senate calls for a lifestyle check on Duterte’s son and son-in-law

By , on December 22, 2017

Following the recent involvement of their names in the drug smuggling in the country, President Rodrigo Duterte’s son, Davao City Vice- mayor Paolo Duterte and son-in-law Mans Carpio should undergo a lifestyle check, a draft report of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee suggested.

According to the report, the young Duterte and Carpio, being part of the family of the country’s leader, are bound for higher standards of accountability.

“Personalities who, due to their close relationships to persons possessing high authority, are held to higher standards of accountability to the people precisely because of such close relationships.”

Gordon explained that this was the reason why they were invited to one of the probe into the 6.4 billion worth of drugs smuggled at the Bureau of Customs.

“Therefore, the Committee decided to request the NBI to include both personalities in the lifestyle checks being conducted.”
