Detained Senator Leila De Lima appealed to the Supreme Court on Tuesday that she be granted a legislative furlough “to attend and perform her mandate as a duly elected member of the Philippine Senate” on the investigation of the killing of 17-year-old Kian Delos Santos.
In the petition she filed, it stated that “the gravity and urgency that Petitioner be allowed to discharge her mandate has become even more critically apparent, in light of the killing of a 17-year-old high school student, Kian Loyd Delos Santos.”
De Lima believed she has all reasons to be allowed for a furlough as the court even grant detainees to leave for birthday celebration’s, relatives wake and funeral , graduation ceremony, Christmas and New Year, and undergoing dental surgery, citing that her petition is “no less significant”.
