Trump discards plans for a speedy exit in Afghan war

By , on December 13, 2017

President Donald Trump takes back his promise of ending the 16-year war in Afghanistan as after a few months of pondering, the US president believes that by doing so, it would leave a “vacuum” that terrorists “would instantly fill”.

It can be recalled that President Trump derided the battles in Afghanistan, being the longest war in America, as a waste of time and money.

But now, the US President came into realization that “the consequences of a rapid exit are both predictable and unacceptable.” He also admitted that things looked differently from “behind the desk in the Oval Office”.

President Trump declared that U.S. troops must “fight to win,” and that America will not cease in working with the Afghanistan government as long as they see the presence of determination and progress.

Meanwhile, upon saying that America’s commitment is not limited, the US President also emphasized that their support is not a “blank check”.
