MANILA —Is Kia letting go of its number one pick?
That seems the case as Picanto is set to give up the said draft pick to the San Miguel Beermen with one week left before the October 29 Rookie Draft.
Kia initially agreed with SMB in a trade that would swap the first overall pick for Jay-R Reyes, Rashawn McCarthy, Keith Agovida, and the latter’s own first round pick, which is slated to become the 12th overall pick.
But with the said proposal getting a flak from the other team owners and even the fans when news broke out about the offer on Saturday, the Beermen reshaped their trade package and offered Yancy De Ocampo, Ronald Tubid, and Matt Rosser for the Picanto’s number one pick while keeping McCarthy and the 12th pick in the offer.
The PBA board is set to discuss the said matter on Thursday when it convenes.
Christian Standhardinger is tipped to become the first overall pick of the said draft, although selecting either Kiefer Ravena or Jeron Teng ahead of him is another option. (PNA)
One comment on “Kia to let go of top pick to SMB”
Starhardinger is a game changer, hence, a game changer needs to be exchanged for him too.
Lasiter, Rosser and Espinas will do.
If SMB and KIA’s trade proposal gets approved it will be really bad for PBA considering they’ve been doing one-sided trades for a while now. PBA as a whole should step on this one because the league is no longer the same from the era where every team can compete. Too much greed is bad, try to let the players play not the owners. – just saying
