Media giant GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) kept its nationwide ratings advantage over competition in September based on data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.
From September 1 to 27 (with September 17 to 27 based on overnight data), GMA garnered more viewers in the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) with an average total day people audience share of 41.9 percent.ABS-CBN, on the other hand, only managed 38.8 percent.
The Kapuso Network ruled both morning and afternoon time blocks in NUTAM, even posting a solid 10.3-point lead over ABS-CBN in the latter.
In Urban Luzon, the Network maintained its dominance across all time blocks with a total day people audience share of 48 percent; beating ABS-CBN’s 33 percent.
The Kapuso Network also posted an impressive lead in Mega Manila (based on September 1 to 23 data) with 50.7 percent total day people audience share; way ahead of ABS-CBN’s 29.3 percent by 21.4 points.
Urban Luzon and Mega Manila respectively account for 76 and 59 percent of all urban viewers in the country.
Similarly, Kapuso shows dominated the list of top programs in NUTAM with Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho still reigning as the most watched GMA program nationwide during the said period. GMA, in turn, claimed 9 of the top 10 programs in Urban Luzon; while sweeping the top 10 spots in Mega Manila.
Consistent top-rating Kapuso shows include the Network’s flagship newscast 24 Oras, followed by Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko, Pepito Manaloto, and Magpakailanman.
Meanwhile, newly-launched series Super Ma’am, bannered by Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera-Dantes, immediately landed a spot in the list of most watched programs. Closely following Super Ma’am is the returning hit musical game show All-Star Videoke, now hosted by the comedic duo of Solenn Heussaff and Betong Sumaya.
Also making it to the list are Alyas Robin Hood, Mulawin vs. Ravena, Ika-6 Na Utos, and 24 Oras Weekend.
In 2016, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement increased its client pool to a total of 36 clients/subscribers consisting of 12 local TV networks including TV5, Aksyon TV, CNN Philippines, Net 25, Solar Entertainment Corporation, Viva Communications Inc., among others; 5 regional clients; 2 blocktimers and 17 media agencies.
