BALER, Aurora — JC Angeles ruled the Free the Sea Movement surfing competition at the Nalu Surf Camp along Sabang Beach on Saturday.
Angeles braved the strong waves of the Pacific Ocean to impress the judges enough to give him the win in the advanced division.
Angeles got an average of 7.2 points, just 0.4 point ahead of second placer Marcus Woelfel of Germany.
JP Carlos came in third with an average of 5.7 points among the three jurors.
In the novice division, Shan Alejos dominated the field with an average score of 8.8 points from three judges.
Mikaela Alde came in second with 6.9 points, while Darwin Cayetano took the third spot with 6.5 points.
The tournament was part of a two-day surfing event that included a free surfing clinic and a coastal cleanup along the said beach.
