BI nabs suspected terrorist at NAIA

MANILA— The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has intercepted a Filipino who is suspected to be a terrorist at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Tuesday.

In a report to Department of Justice (DOJ), BI Port Operations Division Chief Red Marinas identified the apprehended individual as Abdulpatta Escalon, who arrived from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on board Philippine Airlines flight PR633.

He was referred to Duty Immigration Supervisor for secondary inspection.

“During secondary inspection, details from the RMF revealed the subject is a suspected terrorist, suspected supported by a local terrorist group,” the report said.

It added, “Subject is a Person of Interest (POI) of the Philippine National Police-Intelligence Group (PNP-IG) and the US Embassy.”

The report said the PNP-IG has been informed regarding the interception, and other intelligence agency that might be interested with the arrested man.

“After conducting secondary inspection and documention on the subject, the subject was turned over to PSUPT. Romeo Daqis of CTGID for further investigation and disposition,” the report added.
