If you’re a ‘korean drama’ fan or just someone who needs a movie recommendation, you might as well consider watching these five Korean movies which will be shown in this year’s Korean Film Festival.
According to a report from Manila Bulletin, the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) will launch the film festival on September 7 in the Philippines.
The movies which will be showcased in the film fest includes “How to Steal A Dog,” “Twenty,” “My Brilliant Life,” “Very Ordinary Couple,” and “King of Jokgu.”
The film “How to Steal A Dog” talks about 10-year-old Ji-so (played by Lee Re) who sees a missing dog poster with a $500 reward, which she believes can buy her family a house. They target a dog named Wolly, owned by a rich lady (played by Kim Hye-ja) who owns a restaurant where Ji-so’s mom works. The film stars Lee Re, Kim Hye-ja, Choi Min-soo, Lee Ji-won and Lee Chun-hee.
This film has bagged three awards at the 33rd Ale Kino! International Young Audience Film Festival in Poland. It was directed by Kim Seong Ho, who will attend the opening ceremony and will also conduct a director’s talk at the UP Film Institute on September 6 and Film Development Council of the Philippines on September 8. “How to Steal A Dog” can be viewed at SM Megamall.
Next on the movie list is “Twenty” starred by actors Kim Woo-bin, Kang Ha-neul and 2PM’s Lee Junho. The film centers on three best friends who turn 20 and must decide what to do with their lives.
Do you miss Doctor Kang Mo-Yeon (played by Song Hye-kyo) from the Korean drama ‘Descendants of the Sun’? Worry no more as she stars in “My Brilliant Life” along with Kang Dong-won. The movie is about a couple whose son is diagnosed with progeria, a genetic condition in children that manifests rapid aging.
Lee Min-ki and Kim Min-hee also starred in the movie entitled “Very Ordinary Couple” which is about a couple Lee Dong-hee and Jang Young, who broke up but they decided to give their relationship another chance.
“The King of Jogku”, on the other hand, centers on the Korean sport jogku, a cross between football and volleyball. Actor Ahn Jae-Hong, who starred in the drama “Reply 1988”, headlined in the film.
The Film Festival will run until October 15. It will be held in Davao from September 14-17, Iloilo from September 21-24, Cebu from September 28 to October 1, Pampanga from October 5-8, and Cavite from October 12-15. Admission is free and all films have English subtitles.
