Manila, Philippines — His OFW wife failed to answer him on Facebook, as he demanded for her to return to the country. His reaction? To fatally stab their seven-year-old-daughter.

The victim was identified by Inspector Elmer Monsalve, chief of the homicide investigation section of the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) in Camp Karingal, as Angel Mark Cathlene Manliclic. Angel Mark’s mother had left eleven days ago as a temporary foreign worker to Canada. Little did she know what tragedy would befall her daughter.

Monsalve said the victim died on the spot after she suffered stab wounds on her neck, another wound on her abdomen and still another on her right back.

The suspect, Angel Mark’s father, was identified as Mark Alvin Manliclic, 31, jobless, of No. 26 M. Aquino St., Barangay Sta. Lucia, Quezon City.

Manliclic was reportedly angered by his wife Catherine’s failure to communicate with him over Facebook, despite his having sent several messages pleading for her to return home from her job in Canada. He then proceeded to stab their daughter with a kitchen knife, inflicting several fatal wounds; after which he went to his aunt’s house to confess to the crime.

The suspect’s aunt, identified as Vilma Villajuan, confirmed that Manliclic went to her house and confessed to killing his own daughter. Another relative identified as May Andrea Manliclic reported the crime to the police.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) arrived on the scene at 3 a.m., shortly after the crime had been reported, and confiscated a bloodied kitchen knife and pair of shorts. Investigations also showed that the suspect had been drinking prior to committing the heinous crime.

Monsalve said the suspect is now detained at the CIDU jail facility and is facing parricide charges.
