MANILA, Aug. 9— Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation- Special Task Force (NBI-STF) arrested three suspected persons for illegal practice of dentistry, in violation of Republic Act 9484 otherwise known as the Dental Act of 2007.

In a statement released on Wednesday, NBI Director Dante A. Gierran identified the suspects as Edna Busaysay, Anthony Apon and Susana Villacuatro who were arrested in an entrapment operation in the two reported laboratories located in Commonwealth, Quezon City.

The case stemmed from the complaint filed before the NBI-STF by Philippine Dental Association (PDA) president Dr. Mark Villalobos(PDA).

Accordingly, dental practices are limited only to those who have passed the necessary government licensure exam and are given authority to by the government. As defined under the law, dental practice includes the mere checking or operation upon human oral cavity, jaws, teeth and surrounding tissues.

Under strict orders by Gierran, NBI-STF operatives conducted a surveillance operation to verify the veracity of the allegations and to plan counter actions against the Subjects.

On Tuesday, NBI-STF operatives conducted a simultaneous entrapment operation on the two  reported laboratories, both located in Commonwealth, Quezon City that resulted in the arrest of the aforementioned subjects after they performed oral denture impression on the poseur-customers.

Charges for violation of R.A. 9484 (Dental Act of 2007) as well as Article 215 (Swindling and Estafa) of the Revised Penal Code were filed against the arrested suspects.
