Man faces charges after disturbance in P.E.I. that injured two officers

SOURIS, P.E.I. — The RCMP say a 23-year-old man from Souris, P.E.I., is facing charges after a disturbance at a business early Sunday morning that led to his arrest and left two of its officers with minor injuries.

The RCMP say the two Mounties who were injured did not require medical treatment.

They say the man was restrained and put in a police vehicle with the help of an off duty Halifax Regional Police officer and two males who were passing by.

The arrested man was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in court in Charlottetown on Tuesday to face two charges of resisting arrest, a charge of causing a disturbance, two charges of assaulting a police officer, two charges of uttering threats to damage property and two charges of uttering threats.

The RCMP say the help they received from the off duty police officer and the two passersby helped resolve the situation without any serious injuries.
