‘Ulysses’ agri, infra damage now P15.5-B

MANILA – The damage to agriculture and infrastructure caused by Typhoon Ulysses which barreled into Luzon earlier this month has amounted to PHP15.5 billion.

In an update released on Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said damage to agriculture was estimated at PHP4,721,378,946 and these were incurred in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and the National Capital Region (NCR).

Meanwhile, damage to infrastructure was placed at PHP10,796,881,776 and these were recorded in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Region 5, CAR, and the NCR.

Houses damaged by “Ulysses” were also placed at 125,217, of which 16,927 were classified as “totally damaged” and 108,290 as “partially damaged”.

The typhoon has so far affected 1,046,871 families or 4,288,338 persons residing in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, NCR and the CAR.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the typhoon stands at 73, with 83 injured and 19 missing.
