MANILA – Amid the challenges brought by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), hope sparked among Quezon City residents as “Stars of Hope” lanterns and giant Christmas trees were simultaneously lighted in different parts of the city on Tuesday evening.
“Hindi pa man tayo tapos sa ating pinagdadaanan, malaking bagay na yung nakakakita tayo ng mga simbolo ng Pasko na kahit papaano ay napapangiti tayo (Even if we are not yet through with the current pandemic, it helps a lot that we see Christmas symbols that makes us smile),” Dhana Evangelista said in her post to the QC government’s Facebook page.
The city government aspires to bring hope and still inspire its citizens despite the recent typhoons that destroyed many properties and the Covid-19 pandemic that has so far claimed many lives.
On its social media page, the city government invited everyone to participate in the Christmas tree and the Stars of Hope lanterns lighting installed in major parts of the city.
The Stars of Hope were simultaneously lighted in the Quezon City Hall, along Quirino Highway in Novaliches, Katipunan Avenue, Quezon Avenue, and the QC Memorial Circle.
“Muling matutunghayan ang liwanag at madadama ang diwa ng Pasko sa pagbubukas ng ating Stars of Hope (We will again see the light and feel the spirit of Christmas as we light our Stars of Hope),” the QC governments post read.
This is to make QC residents feel the love and have peace even in the middle of all the chaos.
Because of the pandemic, most residents participated virtually via the social media live streaming and witnessed in their houses the fireworks.
“Hindi hadlang ang pandemic para hindi natin madama ang diwa ng Paskong Pinoy! Salamat po dahil kahit mahirap ang sitwasyon ngayon nagiging positibo parin ang pananaw natin sa buhay (The pandemic should not hinder us from feeling the spirit of Filipino Christmas! Thank you because even if we are in difficult times, our perspective becomes positive),” netizen Shirly Quinto said.
With 2020 coming to an end, people are hoping that the Covid-19 pandemic also ends soon and everything goes back to normal.
“Magpasko pa rin tayong lahat kahit simple, gawing makabuluhan dahil ginugunita pa rin natin ang kapanganakan ng ating Jesus Christ (Let us still celebrate the coming Christmas even in a simple way, let us make it meaningful because after all, we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ),” another netizen, Boggz Alcantara said.
